Thank you for taking the time to consider the benefits of becoming a sponsor of The Thorndon Tennis and Squash Club. Your support of the Thorndon Club not only will provide benefit to yourself or your organisation, but also provides much needed support to a local community club facility.
Who are we?
The Thorndon Tennis & Squash Club has existed since 1879 and enjoys an average membership of 400 keen tennis and squash players.
Our club is located in a sheltered and picturesque setting in Thorndon, within easy walking distance of the Wellington CBD, Westpac Stadium and the Railway Station. The club is made up of busy, active and social people who are passionate about sports!
Not only does the Club cater for these racquet sports, it also holds social functions and events throughout the year, enabling people from all walks of life to meet and have fun.
Our committee is enthusiastic and always looking for ways to improve the Club environment.

The club is situated in Thorndon, close to the CBD area in Wellington and in one of the most popular and sought after residential areas of Wellington
Who are its members?
The Thorndon Club has a mix of Junior, Intermediate, and Senior members drawn from a large number of surrounding suburbs. Because of its location, and its close proximity to Wellington's CBD, the Club attracts a large number of members, many of whom are professional workers or business executives.

The facilities at the Thorndon Tennis and Squash Club offer fabulous client-relationship building and team-building opportunities to all organisations from corporates to small businesses. As we have complete flexibility in the way the facilities can be used, we can meet your needs whether you require our complete service or the option of arranging many of the aspects of your function yourself.
Excellent, well maintained sporting facilities
These consist of five tennis courts - two of which are grass, in a private, enclosed, park-like setting, with floodlights for evening tennis. There are four squash courts also. These can be hired for exclusive use by a large organisation or for partial use by smaller businesses. The flood lighting allows late afternoon and early evening functions at any time of the year.
A clubhouse with flexible spaces and decks
The upstairs indoor and outdoor spaces, which are attractive areas for socialising, can be used in conjunction with a sports tournament. In addition, the bar and kitchen, plus extras such as the barbeque, allow any type and size of function for clients or for staff. The venue also works well for functions without any sporting activity such as 21st birthdays, or family reunions.

Thorndon Tennis, four times Winners!
Thorndon interclub teams have dominated the pre-Christmas tennis season, taking out four titles and making Thorndon the most sucessful tennis club in Wellington! Regional 1 women's and men's, Regional 3 men's and Grade 2 men's all won their respective divisions, and Grade 2 womens finished second (meaning the latter three all gain promotion for post-Christmas). This is an outstanding result for the club!
World Record Coaching Attempt!
A world record attempt for the Most Consecutive Tennis Coaching Sessions was held over the 14 & 15th of February 2009.
On the weekend of the National Tennis Open Day, Andy attempted a ridiculous number of consecutive Tennis lessons to raise money for the NZ Cancer Society. The lessons took place from 7am Saturday to 12pm Sunday, continuous! Good thing he's got the balls for it!
 Coach with the Most!
Thorndon's resident coach, Andy has had a massive year with our junior tennis players. Our under-12 teams have all won the National Gold titles. Look out New Zealand Tennis, Wellington and Thorndon will be the new standard for all to aspire to.

Traveling interclub teams: The Club acts as a host to traveling interclub teams from throughout Wellington, Kapiti Coast, and the Wairarapa. These teams travel to play at Thorndon club virtually every week throughout the year for squash and tennis.

Tournaments: The Club hosts a number of Tennis tournaments and squash tournaments throughout the year. These tournaments attract large numbers of players and supporters from around the country

Business House Leagues: The club runs business house competitions which see teams, made up from local businesses, compete throughout the year in both squash and tennis

What term is the sponsorship for?
Each term of sponsorship lasts for one calendar year. Each sponsor has the first right of renewal for the following year.
